Castlefield Breeding Farm was established in 2020 alongside Matteo Del Miglio with the sole aim to breed, nurture and develop our next generation of horses in Ireland.
With Matteo’s wealth of knowledge on bloodlines and Ger’s extensive expertise on sourcing and producing horses for the sport, their focus was on breeding the horses they would want to buy, produce, compete and sell, the modern, athletic, competitive type.

Alongside our breeding operation, we take great pride in the stallions we offer to Irish breeders and again try to source and breed the stallions we want to use ourselves.
We place great importance on the dam lines of the stallions we use and the mares we breed from as we believe the dam’s abilities and genetics play a vital role in the destiny of the horse. Over the years, we have developed our broodmare string alongside our mares that are actively competing, picking and crossing what we believe are some of the best genes of the sport. We also source some of our young horses abroad from embryos to matured horses, where we feel the horse would be a great addition to our current string be it for breeding or competition.
We are very lucky to be located in Ireland, allowing our young horses to spend their formative years predominantly on the land in lush green fields. Our horses then go on to start their careers through the Irish system for developing young horses which has proven to be one of the best in the world.
Our horses carry the “Castlefield” prefix and it is an honour to see them competing across the globe knowing that at one point their lives and careers started here with us.
